Article on old Specialty Press SF
Just stumbled over a site by illustrator Joe Wehrle, Jr.
One of the pages on his site is a nice little article about specialty SF/fantasy printing houses from the 50s and 60s. Click the image to check it out.
UPDATE>> Just been in correspondence with Joe, it seems I bought The Dawning Light off him on eBay a couple of weeks ago. Go figure. Anyway, he gave a little extra info which I’ll keep up my sleeve until I get around to doing a piece on that particular book. Cheers Joe.

You’re showing the cover of my copy of The Black Star Passes- The interesting story about that is: I had wanted a first edition of that book for quite a while, finally found one at a VERY low price, no picture shown, no mention of a jacket, but I bought it anyway, HOPING it was in good shape- I searched Google, etc. to find a jacket repro, finally found a pretty fuzzy one and printed it out, because something is better than nothing, right? Well, when the book arrived, it proved to be a FINE copy, with a FINE dust jacket! SOMETIMES the universe smiles upon you!
