It’s that time of the year…

..when people are busy and other things are on the mind so the Odyssey has been a little slow lately.  In addition, I’ve been wrapped up in listening to Peter F. Hamilton’s Void series, the third and final installment of which is due out in September this year.  I hope he doesn’t pull a George R.R. Martin and indefinitely delay release… that would really suck.  But anyway, I just picked up what looks to be a nice copy of Two Sought Adventure by Fritz Leiber on eBay.  Great!!  About time another GP title was added to the collection.  I’m looking forward to receiving that.  Edging closer to 50%….

  1. Read the The Night’s Dawn Trilogy (The Reality Dysfunction, The Neutronium Alchemist, and The Naked God).

They were excellent. I’ll have to check out the Void series. Good I assume?

    • I listened to the Night’s Dawn a couple of months ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it too, though perhaps the end was a bit of a cop-out. Mr Hamilton is doing much of the same here. Very long (20+ hours listening in each book) and many widely separated characters that are slowly coming together. It’s not finished yet of course, but I was enjoying Night’s Dawn more at the same stage.

I was surprised to find a link to me on your blog. Under ‘Useful’ no less. You must be one of about three people who find all this ‘useful’. Cheers for that.

      • It’s not often you find a blog that’s useful is it? I know mine isn’t useful. It’s just full of BS. But I like yours for the reviews because I read and write SF.

Right now I’m reading Axis – it’s the sequel to Spin by Robert Wilson. If you like Hamilton, you’ll probably like Wilson too, so I’d recommend Spin. Axis isn’t too bad so far either. I’m enjoying it (although I don’t think it’s quite as good as Spin).
